IR Light Helps

Each film on the market has different characteristics; there are shiny chromes, matte chromes, and laminated chromes. Each one works a bit differently, but we generally use an IR (infrared) light, which throws out warm electromagnetic radiation to soften film and help with the install.

The IR light aids in an even application resulting in a perfect uniform stretch. Another method of stretching that helps with chrome is a steamer. Steamers are a huge benefit because it too offers heat, and the water in the steam makes laying down scratch-free vinyl a breeze.

We love laminated chrome. It tends to be easier to work with since the additional layer of the laminate makes the material a bit stiffer, in turn controlling the stretch. The laminate makes scratches less likely to happen during the application process as well.

Prolong the Finish

We’ve tested the waters to see what products can help prolong the mirror finish on our chrome wraps. Our ceramic coat has helped keep that mirror finish but has also kept the car safe from swirls and scratches. The coating lasts about six months to one year on wraps. The coating works by making the finish hydrophobic and easier to clean and maintain. By applying this coating to the car, the only care the client needs to worry about is hand washing and drying using a blower.

A big mistake that car owners tend to make is using car washes that use brushes for washing and towels for drying. Blow drying prevents any small rock chips or dirt from being rubbed up against the car with a rag or towel.
